<> short background <>

Born on Feburary 25, 1980 in a small town just outside Claremore, Oklahoma, Tehya came into the world kicking and screaming (rather the way she's been ever since). She was born under a Galliard moon which, although she was not destined to be Garou, gave her father another reason to "howl at the moon," as it were.

From the time she could walk, Tehya has always had an interest in horses. Her first word was, in fact, horse. Eh...she was attempting to say horse, anyway. Her parents bought her a pony when she was five, enrolling her in lessons at a local stable. But she didn't stop there. By the time she was thirteen she was the top junior rider in her area in the Three-Day Eventing scene. Her real love, though, was for the Arabian horse. The first Arabian she encountered, Ibn El Tareef, was the most beautiful creature she'd ever seen. A delicate dappled gray stallion, he was astonishingly gentle with ten-year-old Tehya, doing little more than lip her hair and whickering at her.

From then on she was an Arabian enthusiast, practially begging her parents to purchase one for her. They finally complied when she was twelve with a horse she named "Sakari," a ten-year-old chestnut mare. Under the tutalige of her trainer, Tehya began to set her sights on the Endurance scene rather than on dressage and the like, as she had before. Arabians are uniquely suited to endurance riding, and Sakari was no exception. She took to it readily, as did Tehya herself. In the next two years she and Sakari took title after title on the Junior circuit, becoming two of the most recognized faces in their sport. In 1994 Sakari suffered an injury to one of the tendons in her right front leg and had to be retired from competition. She spends her days on the Silverwolf farm in Oklahoma.

Over the ensuing years, Tehya, with the help of her parents, has built up a stable of valuable Arabian stock. "Dakota," her favorite, is an eight-year-old blood bay stallion. He's one of her highest hopes right now. "Dyani" is a six-year-old gray mare with a pedigree that's about as royal as Tehya's. She's set to become one of the foundation mares in Tehya's new enterprise. "Helaku" is a georgous dappled grey five-year-old stallion. "Dyami" is an eleven-year-old black stallion who has won numerous awards for conformation, temperment and style. "Taima" is a nine-year-old speckled gray mare who won several awards before Tehya purchased her as a foundation broodmare. "Mitexi," another one of her broodmares, is an twelve-year-old bay with a large white blaze down the front. "Satinka" is a black mare out of Ibn El Tareef. She is one of the only blacks he ever produced, and has one several awards despite her relatively young age of three years. "Chilali" is a four-year-old gray mare with a lot of potential. She has lots of fire and and a sound body. "Kaliska" is the newest addition to the little group and is by Helaku and out of Taima. She was born in October of 2001 in Oklahoma. She's a gray filly.

The combined worth of these horses is over $600,000. It is not surprising, then, that Tehya is very careful about their care and training. Her stud fees range from $5,000-$7,000 a breeding. In addition to her own horses, she takes on the horses of other people, earning quite a bit on the side. Given that her fees are $1,000 a month, and she usually has anywhere from three to eight horses at a time, her yearly income from this is, at minimum $36,000 a year, and sometimes approaches $96,000. She is in demand as a trainer in jumping and endurance, and is known for her way with horses. It's said she can gentle a skittish filly within an hour. Her deep understanding of horses (and, indeed, most animals) comes from the time she spent with her father. He taught her many things, such as observing the signals a horse gives off. Horses cannot speak, and so you must watch the way they place their feet on the ground, the way they cant their heads to one side. Every little movement is important, every little nuance. She picked up on this easily, and has never forgotten it. The colts she sells routinely go for anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000. Horses she has fully trained go for as high as $50,000. On average she sells between eight and ten colts a year, and one fully trained adult, adding aproximatley $160,000 to her yearly income on average for an average total income of $256,000 a year. This is not including the stud fees she takes in, and there are many.

In the summer of 2001 Tehya began looking for a place to relocate her stable. Though she loves her family, she has a desire to be out on her own, running her own place. When Tehya looked over the numbers, and the areas she had thought to move to, she found that pound for pound Charleston was the best place to go. So she purchased a large farm in the Stone Mountain area and is currently in the process of moving her stable to South Carolina. Her new home has been christened Silverwolf Farms.
